AVP, Item Processing - Indianapolis, IN or Albany, NY


Oversee the management of the item processing operations, for both incoming and outgoing cash letters, research and adjustments, and the oversight of the payment product lines within the organization.  Provide quality products and service to member credit unions.  Ensure the completion of all operational functions in compliance with corporate and regulatory policies and procedures.


 

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

• Oversee the management of daily operations of the item processing facility to ensure adherence to corporate deadlines, policies and procedures, as well as relevant regulations.  Recommend changes that would benefit the corporate and the members.
• Ensure adherence to all corporate office security procedures.
• Maintain or recommend changes to internal controls in order to limit number of audit exceptions for all areas of responsibility.
• Create and oversee the product management and development process for payment system products.
• Oversee the management of cost center budgets, reviewing monthly income/expense reports and explaining budget variances.  Ensure timely approval of all office invoices.
• Prepare standard monthly report for use by management, including verified statistics.
• Verify all statistics as accumulated by department and advise upper management of key trends.
• Serve as a member of the Payment Management Team, participating regularly in scheduled meetings.
• Participate in setting and achieving Department Goals.
• Oversee staff development with proper adherence to corporate/department training programs or goals.
• Ensure that working atmosphere in office provides employees with a favorable working environment.
• Attend staff, district and other special meetings, as needed. 
• Ensure BCP test plans are current and tested.
• Oversee all item processing areas to ensure that a high level of service is provided to member credit unions at a reasonable cost. 
• Monitor new technologies/operating practices and their applicability to processing methods to ensure that the most efficient and cost effective processes are utilized.
•  Ensure adherence to all government and Federal Reserve Bank Regulations relating to correspondent services and item processing regulations governing correspondent services.
• Ensure adherence to record retention.  Ensure proper storage measures are followed while sensitive materials are stored on-site.
• Ensure proper maintenance of equipment and request service when needed. Maintain records of maintenance performed.
• Participate on project teams as requested.
• Participate in or coordinate special corporate-wide projects as assigned by Item Processing Management.


  Supervisor Responsibilities

Individual will be responsible for the supervision of the management of the item processing areas (inclearing, proof/transit, VIP and research) of Members United at their designed regional office.  Individual is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, planning, staffing and evaluation of item processing activities at their individual site. Individual will carry out managerial responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include assisting management with the interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

• Bachelor’s degree and/or five years of related operations experience including three years in item processing field and in a supervisory capacity. 
• Individual will possess excellent math, interpersonal, PC, time management, organizational and communication skills. Ability to work independently, meet deadlines and maintain a high level of confidentiality.
