SUMMARY
This position is primarily responsible for evaluating, operating and maintaining systems used to simulate the economic and accounting effects of Members United’s fixed-income, cash, and derivatives investment activities in various interest rate and credit scenarios, and for the preparation of interest rate and liquidity risk management reports regarding these activities. In addition, this individual prepares analysis and reports for the various committees, including Asset-Liability Management Committee (ALCO) and Management ALCO. Through these activities, this individual will develop opinions, alternate courses of action and recommendations for business strategies to support management’s decision-making process.

- Design and administer Members United’s balance sheet modeling systems. Create and maintain various databases, charts of account and book of business structures.
- Interface with each analytic system’s vendor and maximize the models’ capabilities for the organization. Implement all appropriate system upgrades, enhancements, and/or replacements.
- Ensure that every Members United investment, cash, derivative, capital, and member transaction is captured accurately in each of the modeling software systems. Analyze the cash flows and characteristics of each transaction, and determine the appropriate modeling methodology to value the transaction.
- Support the Finance area by providing market values of investment securities to be used in official financial statements. Prepare, test, execute, document, and maintenance investment security pricing procedures for Members United’s investment holdings, derivatives and complex derivative hedge effectiveness testing to meet stringent requirements of outside auditors and regulatory authorities.
- Generate and verify for correctness market value, Net Interest Income, Net Income, and Net Economic Value reports on interest rate sensitivity and credit scenarios for presentation to senior management, ALCO, Management ALCO, and BOD. Also, prepare special regulatory risk and compliance reports required by NCUA’s Rules and Regulations Part 704, and Members United’s policies and guidelines.
- Develop and execute special income scenario and balance sheet risk simulation strategies and forecasts for senior management and the various committees.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
Master's degree (M. A.) or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
None required. Certification demonstrating competence in field, such as CFA charter, CRP, FRM, etc. is desirable.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES
Strong analytical and quantitative skills and proficiency with electronic analysis tools required. Experience with or ability to quickly learn and master advanced ALM modeling systems, such as QRM, Derivative Solutions, BancWare’s Convergence or Kamakura’s KRM also essential.
